The Vienna Opera Ball was
again a highlight to Hong Kong's social scene. Blending cultural
Vienna with contemporary Hong Kong, the evening included the traditional
introduction of debutantes, the popular quadrille dance and a whirlwind of
classical Viennese waltzes.

8, 2008 - TEAM AUSTRIA - Dragon Boat Race
Dragon boat races are held
every fifth day of the fifth month of the lunar calendar to commemorate the
death of the well-loved statesman and poet Qu Yuan who lived in the Chinese
Kingdom of Chu more than 2,000 years ago. Again TEAM AUSTRIA-enthusiasts
powered by AustroCham waved the Austrian flag in Stanley and won their first
trophy in the Mixed Silver Shield Final.

Business Networking Weekend
Following the success of last year´s event
AustroCham invited its members and friends to a business
networking weekend in Shenzhen, Guangdong, China. In the splendid
surroundings of the Kempinski Hotel workshops were held on topics ranging
from financing exports to lobbying in China. The weekend
turned out to be a great opportunity to converse with industry professionals and exchange
experiences with like-minded peers.

January 18, 2008 - AustroTram
AustroCham introduced a
new event this winter - AustroTram, with a tour starting at Whitty Street
to Causeway Bay and Happy Valley. In one of Hong Kong´s oldest
treasures, an antique, partly open tram car, members and friends enjoyed
a pleasant evening with mulled wine and cookies during the coldest time
of the year. |

December 3, 2007 - AustroCham Guangzhou -
Inaugural Meeting
December 3, 2007 was the date of the first meeting of AustroCham
Guangzhou, the Austrian business circle in South China. The event was
attended by 25 representatives of Austrian companies and friends of Austria,
who were given an update of recent changes of Chinese business laws and
served a delicious Austrian dinner at the Shangri-La Hotel.
The gathering was organized by the Austrian Foreign Trade Office in
Guangzhou and its newly arrived head Andreas Baumgartner, Consul for
Commercial Affairs. AustroCham Hong Kong was represented by board member
Martin Glatz, Austrian Trade Commissioner for Hong Kong, Macao and South
China. |
